With the Railways Bill having passed its Second Reading in the House of Commons, alongside the preview of Great British Railways' new branding and ticketing app, the Government's programme of rail reform is now firmly under way.
The UK Rail Summit 2026 will take stock of progress to date, examining the evolving shape of the Bill following detailed committee stage and House of Lords scrutiny. The event will explore how reform can translate into practical delivery, with a particular focus on devolution and existing examples of vertical integration in the UK — such as Transport for Wales' Core Valley Lines, Southeastern and Anglia — as well as international best practice, including Switzerland.
Through senior-level discussion and real-world case studies, the Summit will consider how these models can help guide Great British Railways in embedding best practice across the network. It will also examine how innovation can be sustained within a reformed, publicly led system, including emerging thinking on rolling stock strategy and alternative approaches to procurement that support performance, accessibility and long-term value.
