Rail franchising and how rail can help re-balance the UK's economy
Transport Times is collaborating with Siemens to produce fringe events at the Labour and Conservative party conferences which will focus on rail. The events are free to attend but are by invite only; please contact Kirsty Walton (email@example.com) if you are interested in attending.
The events are located outside the secure zone. Refreshments will be provided at each.
The roundtable discussion may take the following themes:
• Rail franchising • How rail can help re-balance the UK's economy • To what extent is the decline in patronage structural (semi-permanent) or cyclical (temporary)? • Siemens' decision to invest in a new factory in Yorkshire • The benefits of the delivery of rail work to local communities – i.e. via jobs and training opportunities
